It's difficult to try to summarize in a few words the feeling of realizing that the company created by your grandparents and non rum by your children, hai non reached 100 years of life. I remember the many sacrificio, the difficult moments but also the great satisfactions of this long journey. Perhaps, however, what I feel more than anything else at this Moment is a strong sense of responsibility; responsibility towards those who started all this, responsibility of leaving something important to future generazioni who will continue it and responsibility towards all customers who have always trusted us. May the same dazzling inspirations, the beating heart of these 100 years of Andrè Maurice, be such also in the future... and forever.
E' difficile cercare di esprimere in poche parole il sentimento che si prova realizzando che l'azienda creata dai tuoi nonni e oggi condotta dai tuoi figli, abbia ormai raggiunto i cento anni di vita. Mi vengono in mente i tanti sacrifici, i momenti difficili ma anche tutte le grandi soddisfazioni di questo lungo cammino. Forse, però, ciò che più di ogni altra cosa provo in questo momento, è un forte senso di responsabilità; responsabilità nei confronti di chi ha creato tutto questo, responsabilità nel lasciare qualcosa d'importante alle generazioni future nella speranza che lo continuino, responsabilità nei confronti di tutti i clienti che ci hanno sempre dato fiducia. Che le stesse folgoranti ispirazioni, cuore pulsante di questo primo secolo di Andrè Maurice, possano essere tali anche in futuro... e mi auguro per sempre.

The inspiration for our story comes from a deep sense of pride and gratitude towards who preceded us on this long journey in knitwear. Starting with Giulia Allario in Scagliotti who began an artisanal production in her house in Roncaglia, in the hills of Monferrato, exactly a century ago. That historic starting point, that is 1921 - the year of the great Italian crisis due to the past-war period, with unemployment increased six times compared to the previous year and a consumer market that fell increasingly sharply due to the circulating liquidity crisis among the population - seen through today's eyes, it represents not only a far -sighted intuition but also a courageous precursor of an entrepreneurial activity.
L'ispirazione che nasce dalla nostra storia rappresenta un profondo senso di orgoglio nei confronti di chi ci ha preceduto in questo lungo percorso della maglieria. A partire da Giulia Allario in Scagliotti che iniziò una produzione artigianale nella sua casa di Roncaglia, tra le colline del Monferrato, esattamente un secolo fa. Quello storico punto di partenza, ovvero il 1921 - l'anno della grande crisi italiana dovuta al dopoguerra, con una disoccupazione aumentata di sei volte rispetto all'anno precedente e un mercato dei consumi precipitato sempre più velocemente per la crisi di liquidità circolante tra la popolazione - visto con gli occhi di oggi rappresenta non solo una lungimirante intuizione ma anche un coraggioso atto precursore della stessa attività imprenditoriale che ritroviamo ancora viva ai giorni nostri.
Roots well anchored in the territory where we were born and have now lived for four generations; it is from here that an overwhelming inspiration arises that perfectly identifies with the concept of Genius Loci - the spirit of the place. Like the flow of the great river, that always and inexorably reaches the sea with a slow and often-imperceptible movement, in it's becoming the Genius Loci penetrates the soul of man with changing nuances throughout his entire existence, shaping his thoughts, behaviors and aspirations. And it is for this reason that we keep within us the intimate awareness that all our clothes carry within them an exclusive and unrepeatable baggage of knowledge influenced by lights, colors, scents, atmosphere, shapes, and traditions of our territory of origin - the Monferrato - combined with the desire to discover and confront the whole world.
Radici ben ancorate nel territorio in cui siamo nati e viviamo da ormai quattro generazioni; è da qui che nasce un'ispirazione travolgente che s'identifica perfettamente con il concetto di Genius Loci - lo spirito del luogo. Come lo scorrere del grande fiume che raggiunge sempre e inesorabilmente il mare con un lento movimento spesso impercettibile, nel suo divenire il Genius Loci penetra nell'anima dell'uomo con sfumature mutevoli nel corso di tutta la sua intera esistenza plasmandone i pensieri, i comportamenti, le aspirazioni. Ed è per questo motivo che custodiamo dentro di noi l'intima consapevolezza che tutti i nostri abiti portino in sé un esclusivo ed irripetibile bagaglio di conoscenze influenzate da luci, colori, profumi, atmosfere, forme e tradizioni del nostro territorio d'origine - il Monferrato - unito al desiderio di scoprire e confrontarsi con il mondo intero.
Art and beauty, culture, and knowledge; these are the axioms that inspire us every day, striving never to give in to useless compromises or useless shortcuts. Art and culture, helpless in their being, sometimes in they fragility, hand down the souls of artists, poets, and thinkers, who continue to live in them, as well as evolution of the social contexts of the areas in which they come ti life. Furthermore, art and culture, in any of their forms, are often able to generate the same surprising sensation of pleasure that ha always inspired us in thinking, designing, and creating all our collections for a century now. Only in this way, at least for us, is the art and culture of knitwear able to pass on the soul of the precious hands that generated it.
Arte e bellezza, cultura e sapere; sono questi gli assiomi a cui ci ispiriamo quotidianamente, sforzandoci di non cedere mai a inutili compromessi o vane scorciatoie. L'arte e la cultura, inermi nel loro essere, a volte nella loro fragilità, tramandano le anime di artisti, poeti e pensatori, che in esse continuano a vivere, nonché l'evolversi dei contesti sociali delle epoche in cui hanno preso vita. Arte e cultura, inoltre, in qualsiasi loro forma spesso e volentieri sono in grado di generare la stessa sorprendente sensazione di piacere a cui noi ci ispiriamo da sempre nel pensare, disegnare e realizzare tutte le nostre collezioni da ormai un secolo. Solo così, almeno per noi, l'arte e la cultura della maglieria sono in grado di tramandare le anime delle preziose mani che l'hanno generata.
Gestures, rituals and customs repeated and handed down for an indefinite time and that create the nostalgic illusion of interrupting for an instant the fast flow of time that pursues the exasperated desire for modernity. Traditions have always been our source of inspiration, a glue between the past and the present as well as a deep groove towards the future that we fervently dream. The repetition of daily gestures, such as the hands of a farmer clutching the precious fruits of the earth, as well as the marks of the chisel on the walls of an old underground cellar remain witnesses of a material and spiritual baggage that we wish to express in our work and continue to pass on over time.
Gesti, rituali e consuetudini che si ripetono e tramandano da tempo indefinito e che creano la nostalgica illusione d'interrompere per un istante il veloce scorrere del tempo intento ad inseguire l'esasperato desiderio di modernità. Le tradizioni sono da sempre una nostra fonte d'ispirazione, un collante tra il passato e il presente nonché un profondo solco tracciato verso il futuro che sogniamo ferventemente. Il ripetersi di gesti quotidiani, come le mani di un contadino che stringono i preziosi frutti della terra, così come i segni dello scalpello sulle pareti di una vecchia cantina interrata, rimangono ancora oggi testimoni di un bagaglio materiale e spirituale che desideriamo esprimere nel nostro lavoro e continuare a tramandare nel tempo.
Sometimes majestic, severe, and wild, other times fragile, romantic, and silent, nature represents a precious and inexhaustible treasure chest of inspiration. With it, however, the fleeting moments of inspiration often coincides with an unexpected shock; a small clod of earth can fade into an ambitious project, a simple crack in the ground in an illuminated idea, the soft lines of a hill in a poetic dream, the details of a flower in an articulate thought. Furthermore, its rigorous respect often returns a precise identification as a gift, expressed in a responsible rigorous, and long-lasting personal style. Therefore, we will never get tired of admiring, caring for and promoting all the natural beauties of our territory.
Spesso maestosa, severa e selvaggia, ma anche fragile, romantica e silenziosa, la natura rappresenta uno scrigno prezioso e inesauribile d'ispirazione. con essa, però, l'attimo fuggente dell'ispirazione coincide spesso con una folgorazione inaspettata; una piccola zolla di terra può sfumare in un progetto ambizioso, una semplice crepa nel terreno in un'idea illuminata, le linee morbide di una collina in un sogno poetico, i dettagli di un fiore in un pensiero articolato. Il suo rigoroso rispetto, inoltre, spesso restituisce in dono una precisa identificazione che si esterna in uno stile personale responsabile, rigoroso e duraturo nel tempo. Ecco per quale motivo noi non ci stuferemo mai di ammirare, accudire e promuovere tutte le bellezze natural del nostro territorio.
Essence as a completion of appearance, where the detail becomes a distinctive, intimate, and personal element, which enriches and completes a partially - perfect overall picture. The inspiration that comes from the detail cannot be built - it would be a stretch - let alone impose - it would turn into a jarring; it finds its complete legitimacy only in a state of mind that manages to elevate it to the point of departure and arrival of one's being. The detail, stimulating the senses, impose a new, inevitable, and fascinating perspective on the sight, on the mind a necessary path towards the imagination and intriguing sensations to the touch. This is why, for a century we have been accustomed to consider appearance as one of the many results of essence.
Essenza come completamento dell'apparenza, dove il particolare diventa un elemento distintivo, intimo e personale, che arricchisce e completa un quadro d'insieme parzialmente perfetto. L'ispirazione che deriva dal dettaglio non si può costruire - sarebbe una forzatura - tantomeno imporre - si trasformerebbe in una stonatura; trova la sua completa legittimazione unicamente in uno stato d'animo che riesce ad elevarla a punto di partenza e di arrivo del proprio essere. Il dettaglio, sollecitando i sensi, impone alla vista una nuova, inevitabile e affascinante prospettiva, alla mente un doveroso percorso verso l'immaginazione, al tatto intriganti sensazioni. Ecco per quale motivo, da un secolo siamo soliti considerare l'apparenza unicamente come uno dei tanti risultati dell'essenza.
Minutes, days, years, and centuries; the inexorable advance of time holds a precious secret, where thoughts and gestures, even the simplest, are inspired by the immense value of the experiences acquired. Here then the touch of a hand on the raw cashmere staple in the fateful moment of its choice becomes more sensitive, the movement of the same in guiding the needle during sewing more harmonious, fast, and precise. Individually or as a team, acquired or handed down, we have always found inspiration from any nuance of experience, and we have treasured it for all reasoning and daily choices. With a century of life behind us, experience is therefore the value that, combined with passion, we keep with greater awareness.
Minuti, giorni, anni e secoli; l'inesorabile avanzare del tempo custodisce un prezioso segreto, dove i pensieri e i gesti, anche i più semplici, sono ispirati dall'immenso valore dell'esperienza acquisita. Ecco allora che il tratto di una mano sul fiocco grezzo di cashmere nel fatidico momento della sua scelta diventa più sensibile, il movimento della stessa nel condurre l'ago durante la cucitura più armonioso, veloce e preciso. Individuale o di squadra, acquisita o tramandata, noi abbiamo sempre trovato ispirazione da qualsiasi sfumatura dell'esperienza e ne abbiamo fatto tesoro per tutti i ragionamenti e le scelte quotidiane. Con un secolo di vita alle spalle, l'esperienza è quindi il valore che, unito alla passione, custodiamo con maggiore consapevolezza.
